HYDROCARB Trinidad Limited was established in 1965 to provide innovative oilwell and oilfield services at a time when the Petroleum industry was seriously seeking solutions to the challenging problem of oilwell sand production. This was our main stalwart service in the first 10years of existence before widening our scope.
Progressive Cavity Pump
In addition to gaining representation from international entities, we re-engineered and optimized the Progressive Cavity Pump and other downhole accessories in response to high-water and sandy wells. By doing so, we increased our services offered to Trinidad and Tobago, thereby surpassing customer expectations and needs.
Gravel Packing
HYDROCARB Trinidad Limited initiated the gravel packing of oil wells in Trinidad and specialized in providing total oilwell sand control systems via Multi-Spindle precision slotting and perforating machines, precision machining and fabricating equipment, gravel pack pumping, foam units, and coil tubing truck-mounted units.
Environmental Protection
HYDROCARB continues to create innovative improvements; maximizing utilization of local resources beneficial to the petroleum industry, and further expanding its efforts to protecting the environment through its R&D Department by providing solutions for the treatment of wastewater, effluent & produced solids, while adhering to environmental regulations.

About Us
HYDROCARB TRINIDAD LIMITED was established in February 1965 to provide oilwell and oilfield services to the Petroleum industry at a time when the industry was seriously seeking a solution to the challenging problem of oilwell sand production.
HYDROCARB initiated the “gravel packing” of oilwells in Trinidad and specialized in providing total oilwell sand control systems – equipment, tools and services – for gravel packing of oilwells during the first ten (10) years of its existence. Equipment was acquired such as Multi-Spindle precision slotting and perforating machines, precision machining and fabricating equipment, gravel packing pumping and foam units, to enable provision of a complete oilwell sand control package to the industry.
Diversification in its provision of oil well and oilfield services was a logical consequence of HYDROCARB’S vision to engineer solutions to challenging situations and problems in the Petroleum industry.
HYDROCARB was totally localized in its shareholding in 1986 and continued on a path of further diversification of its range of oilwell Completion tools and services, its Engineering Services, and Sprayed Polyurethane industrial applications.
As the Petroleum industry moves into the twenty-first (21st) century, the challenge of improving the economics and profitability of low production oilwells on artificial lift, particularly on land comes to the forefront.
How do you utilize less energy to produce more oil from low production oil wells? How do you reduce maintenance costs on artificial lift systems on these wells? With the advent of the PETROTRIN lease and farmout program in 1989: HYDROCARB, a company with vision, having successfully bid and awarded one Lease Operatorship in 1989 and one farmout block subsequently, approached this challenge in a positive manner to engineer a solution.
HYDROCARB re-engineered and applied the progressive cavity pump (PCP) system and initiated the local manufacturing, in their Engineering Services Division, of the first PCP DRIVEHEAD with space through polish rod and downhole oilwell accessories for optimizing downhole pumping efficiency.
The success of HYDROCARB in efficiently producing low production wells using their PCP systems led to the major oil companies re-examining the use of the system and HYDROCARB was poised to supply a niche market.
Today hundreds of HYDROCARB PCP DRIVEHEAD systems can be seen producing oil from oil wells onshore and offshore in Trinidad & Tobago. HYDROCARB have also been successful in penetrating the international market.
HYDROCARB is now recognized as having provided the FIRST locally manufactured PCP DRIVEHEAD SYSTEM with “PROPRIETARY” back spin retarder and variable speeds for optimizing production from oilwells at all required depths.
HYDROCARB continues to create improvements and to be innovative; maximizing utilization of local resources for the benefit of the Petroleum Industry, and is recognized as a Company which can be relied upon to Engineer solutions to challenging situations or problems.
